Owner, Operator, and Hair Stylist
Peggy has over 23 years of experience cutting, coloring and styling hair. She has worked in Hawaii and on the mainland. She considers herself a very down-to-earth woman, enjoying salsa dancing, cooking, the outdoors and most of all, spending time with family and friends. She treats people how she wants to be treated and believes that what you give to the world is what comes back to you. Being present, loving, respectful, genuine and kind to others gives her the most pleasure and joy. This is one of the reasons she became a hair stylist – to spread happiness.
Peggy believes education is the most powerful way to service her clients. The hair industry changes so much every year and staying current through education and training, is one of her top priorities. In the last 23 years, Peggy has attended advanced training at least twice a year at the best hair academies. These classes often require her to take time away from family and servicing her clients, but she is extremely passionate about learning new techniques, methods and products that can be brought back to the salon. Some of the classes she has attended are:
Vidal Sassoon (Precise Haircutting and Color)
Toni and Guy (Hair Cutting and Color)
Goldwell (Hair Color)
Fremesi (Hair Color)
Great Lengths Hair Extensions
Gene Juarez Academy and Advanced Training
Evolve Volumizer and Hair Extensions

"Satori's top-notch team, location, style, and reputation are such a great fit for me and my growing business. I'm thrilled to call Satori my home and delighted to have my guests experience a salon that matches the level of quality I put in every cut & color."
Originally from California, Melissa has over 20 years of styling experience. She initially studied at Ogle school and shortly thereafter advanced her training at Toni & Guy Academy. It was there that she found her calling as an educator; she spent 6 years with Tigi, helping stylists hone their skills, and she recounts many of her best memories as a stylist from her time as a teacher.
She then spent 9 years partnering with one of the most sought after salons in Austin, TX, specializing in dimensional color & textured cuts.
With a passion for beautiful hair and beautiful cities, Melissa moved to Kailua & joined the Satori team in 2020.
"Hair can reveal a lot about a person, and everyone deserves a fabulous haircut, style, and color that makes them feel confident."
When not in the salon you can find Melissa studying the healing arts in the jungles of Costa Rica. With a passion for beautiful hair and a blend of urbanism meets nature, Melissa was beckoned to Oahu to serve. She dedicates her life work to culminate in creating a revolutionary experience helping others look and feel their best.
“I wanted to make people feel beautiful, so I became a Hairstylist. As someone with naturally curly hair, I've had many interesting haircuts. I decided I was going to become a hairstylist and specialize in textured natural hair.”
Vanessa is an enthusiastic person with an innate ability to connect with people on a personal and professional level.
Originally from Massachusetts, Vanessa has spent the last 15 years traveling from duty station to duty station with her family. And with her husband’s retirement on the horizon, she said it was time for her to be the provider. “I think he deserves to enjoy retirement.” With that in mind, she attended Paul Mitchell The School, Honolulu and graduated with Honors in Color, Textured Hair and is recognized as a Dean’s List recipient at Paul Mitchell The School.
Upon graduating, Vanessa assisted Satori owner, Peggy Strauss for one year. While assisting, she was able to learn, specialize, and hone her skills to earn a chair of her own at Satori.

Leaving her small island home of Kauaʻi at an early age, Kanae began her education at Paul Mitchell The School at just 17. She quickly found her passion in doing hair. During her time at school, Kanae enjoyed attending events in the community such as cutting hair at elderly/retirement homes, high school fairs & even doing hair for fashion shows. Shortly before graduating, she found her home at Satori Salon and Spa.
Starting as an assistant, she shadowed owner Peggy Strauss for just under a year, perfecting her skills before earning her own chair in the salon. She now has taken a particular interest in blonding and balayage. “I have learned so much in such a short amount of time and I am eager to continue learning as I grow in my profession!”
Aside from hairdressing, Kanae is an outgoing, keto-eating, mother of 2. She strongly believes in protecting Hawaiian culture and the passing on of traditions from generation to generation. Growing up, Kanae spent lots of time hunting, fishing, and dancing hula. With everything she does, she does it with her heart.
She is extremely grateful to be a part of the Satori team and is looking forward to blessing all the beautiful souls with beautiful hair.
With her passion for the arts and her desire for self-expression, Catie found her artistic outlet in hair. Growing up in Carlsbad, California the free-spirited culture developed her creative yet urban style. Seeking a similar atmosphere, Catie moved to Oahu where she enrolled at The Paul Mitchell School Of Design. During and upon her graduation, Catie extended her passion by assisting Peggy Stauss at Satori Salon. “To be the best, you must learn from and surround yourself with the best!”
To Catie, the most liberating feeling is having her client leave happy, relaxed, and confident. When she’s not at the salon you can find her on the north shore free diving, making art, or lost in nature.
“My favorite part about being in this industry is that irreplaceable feeling you receive when you’re getting pampered. It brings me back to being a little girl and playing dress-up with my friends. You get to be whoever you want to be that day and always leave the salon feeling so special.”

Ivy was born and raised right here in Kailua. After many years of being away, she is very excited to be home to share her knowledge and guidance towards healthy, well functioning skin.
Licensed in 2007, she has spent her career in a mix of luxury, holistic, and medi spa settings in the SF Bay Area.
In 2018 she had the opportunity to attend a holistic skincare retreat.
"My approach towards skincare shifted and I gained a unique set of skills to incorporate in my facial treatments. Facial sculpting massage, depuffing with lymphatic drainage, and facial reflexology are modalities I swear by. I have an in-depth understanding of how stress, gut health, emotions, diet and so much more show up in different forms on our skin.
I treat the skin as a "whole" in connection with the body. There is such confusion in this industry, with social media influencers and the next "miracle" product.
My goal is to end that confusion with an honest and simple approach: Consistency, Patience, and Trust"
In her down time, Ivy loves swimming in the ocean, cooking, solo dance party stress relief, and spoiling her rescue pup, Oliver.
Jessica has a passion for healing and strives to provide massages designed specifically for each individual and their needs. When she’s not busy providing therapeutic treatment to Oahu's inhabitants, she loves spending time with her friends and family, skateboarding, surfing and enjoying Hawai'i's natural beauty.
